If there ends up being 6 "Davids" in my son's kindergarten class, mine had NOTHING to do with American Idol.
First the hurricane puts a morbid association with one of my favorite girl names while I was pregnant with Katy, and now this...

What a lovely letter to Katy - you're great parents and she's a testament to you both. We are in the list of people that love her dearly.
Now onto the name David. It could have been MUCH worse - at least the two American Idol Davids are LOVELY and talented. I'm hoping for "Cook" by the way, not Archuleta
The hurricane will be remembered long after the idol! Besides, our David will make his own mark.
I feel that way about Jacob's name. He was named after my grandpa and great-grandpa, both named Jacob. The name turned out to be the #1 boys name the year Jacob was born, but I'd had that name picked out since high school, so I wasn't about to change my mind.
Ellie was/is a pretty popular name too. We officially named her Gabrielle so she'd have some options as she grows up.
Emmaline was almost an Emily (after you!), but we decided to go with a name that wasn't in the top 2 like Emma and Emily. In fact, Emmaline isn't even in the top 1000. So funny that you have another set of friends who used that name as well. Maybe we started a trend!
