One of the parts of parenting that I enjoy the most is watching in awe as my kids learn new things. Katy's been begging us since last fall to take the training wheels off her bike, but I really thought she was too small. I cringed as Brian removed them yesterday and said to her, "Once we take these off, we won't put them back on!" I was thinking, oh, but what happens when she struggles and struggles and struggles? But, within 30 minutes...
I know this isn't off the charts amazing or anything, but I am just stunned. How did she get so big?

Wow! Way to go, Katy! Maybe this will inspire Rachel to want to learn--she doesn't seem to care that she still has training wheels.
Go Katy! I'm so impressed - we had to get Harper a bigger bike last summer because she'd gotten so tall and she is still terrified to ride it, even with training wheels... I'll have to show this to her.
Also? Where do you guys buy tights? Harper mostly wears leggings under dresses but when we try tights they always tear on the first wear... maybe I'm getting really cheap ones?
Hmmm...tights. I mostly get her the thick ones unless she's wearing a fancy dress, and those are a lot more sturdy. I've gotten them at Carter's, Kohl's, JCP. The thick winterish ones haven't ripped much. And I used to cringe when she would want to ride bikes or climb the playset wearing tights, but I gave up the fight and if they rip: oh, well.
That is awesome! I'm not even her mom, and I felt so proud of her watching this!
Zachariah is just like Kelsey said Harper is. He doesn't want to try his bike even with training wheels. Last summer, he said the bike was too big (he could reach but didn't want to). So I've been trying to tell him that it will be perfect this summer and he will be great at riding. He watching Katy's video with me, so I'm hoping that will encourage him to at least try his bike (with training wheels, though).
I read this the other day but didn't get to comment...I was SO impressed!! She looks like a natural :) Michael asked me about his training wheels one day but we haven't taken them off just yet. Such a cool, cool moment :)
And I have to add- she does this with such GRACE in her DRESS! That makes it even better in my book.
