This Far...

I know I've been fortunate to have gotten in 3 and a half years of parenting before having this experience. BUT...

Last night we tried a neighborhood pizza place for dinner. Brian and Katy had pepperoni. David and I did not. The pepperoni was intense, even just looking at it. All evening Brian was complaining that his stomach hurt.

And then at 2 in the morning, Katy cried out to me and I went in expecting the usual bad dream complaint. But I walked into the nastiest mess I've ever encountered, and Katy was saying, "My face!" She was so confused as to what had just happened. And it was bad. All over the wall, the comforter, the floor, down her pajamas and in her hair. And worst of all: Blankie. It took Brian and I together an hour and a half to get it cleaned up. *shudder*

Finally she settled back down, and she hasn't done it again since. Today she's acting pretty normal, not eating a whole lot, but she says her stomach doesn't hurt anymore. So should I assume it was the pizza? Or are we doomed for another round of illness in this house?

Please, Lord. I am begging you. I'll pitch the leftovers. Let it be the pizza.

Our doctor has always said it takes about 24 hours for something to be food poisoning and it's usually not the last thing you ate (though usually none of us can ever eat whatever it was that we ate before... you know.)

Hope you are all better. Wouldn't be fair to have stomach flu again.

Poor Katie (and Mommy and Daddy). Like Katie said, probably not food poisoning, but with little ones the indigestion can be intense and their body's just reject the food. I'll pray for the family that everyone stays healthy.

That sounds very tough. Our little one has been suffering from tummy boo boo that results in action at the other end. We followed docs advice and pumped her full of apple juice and red jello. Apparently we pumped her a tad too full as we had an oral eruption later that day. With her it was just an issue of eating too much of new food. I hope that's all it is with Katy.

Yuuuuuuck. So sorry.

Do you know about baby bed lasagna? You layer old towels and bed pads and blankets and whatever else you can manage in a sicko kid's bed at night. Then you just peel off a layer, clean up the child, hope for the best with Blankie and Bear, and put the kid back down.

We've had one experience thus far with TWO vomiting children all night long. We lasagna-ed up both their beds, which saved a lot of midnight matress cleaning.

Hey Em,

I hope everyone is feeling better - kiddos tossing their cookies is the worst for so many reasons. I hope it is long over since it took me so long to write this!
